GUNITE is a cement-sand mortar, applied through a hose and pneumatically projected (with compressed air) at a high velocity onto almost any surface, as a construction technique.
It is reinforced by conventional steel rods, steel mesh, and/or fibres. Gunite is placed and compacted at the same time, due to the force with which it leaves the nozzle; it achieves very high strengths in hard to cast places giving it a very dense strong concrete layer.
Gunite is sprayed though a special gun or nozzle onto formwork, walls, or rocks. It can be sprayed onto any type or shape of surface, including vertical or overhead areas.
